Talking Galleries, the Spanish non-profit dedicated to generating debate and knowledge in the field of art galleries and the art market, is pleased to present a new edition of its flagship event, the Barcelona Symposium.
The Barcelona Symposium is a two-day conference, a unique place for the prominent art world figures to debate and reflect on various aspects of art gallery management. It attracts a diverse audience, made up of gallerists, collectors, art journalists, curators, artists, and fair directors, who are engaged in the discussion and contribute to the exchange of expertise and relevant knowledge across all sectors of the art business.
The 2022 edition will mark the return of Talking Galleries' symposium to its hometown after the two-year pause due to the pandemic. The art world has changed significantly in these past two years. This year's programme will feature the new pressing issues and new concerns that have arisen in the art world's agenda since the previous meeting was held, in early 2020.
Discussion topics will include: the impact of NFTs in the gallery market; inclusiveness in the art world; the booming Parisian art scene; the relationships between art fairs and biennials; gallery practices in the secondary market; innovative projects between art and tech, among other relevant matters today.
With the participation of leading international art world figures including Ilaria Bonacossa (National Museum of Digital Art), Nicolas Bourriaud (curator and philosopher), Ellen de Bruijne (Ellen de Bruijne Projects), Mario Cristiani (Galleria Continua), Elvira Dyangani Ose (MACBA), Carles Guerra (artist, curator and art critic), Joe Kennedy (Unit London), Alex Mor (mor charpentier), Beatriz Ordovás (Christie's Spain), Julia Peyton-Jones (Thaddaeus Ropac), Guillaume Piens (Art Paris), Alain Quemin (Université Paris-8), Andrés Reisinger (digital artist), and Jérôme Sans (Lago/Algo, Materia), who will debate alongside Andrew Goldstein (Artnet News), Paco Barragán (curator and PhD), Pau Waelder (curator and researcher / Niio), Llucià Homs (Talking Galleries) and Farah Nayeri (The New York Times), among other contributors.
